Workshop on Conformity Assessment-Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services (ISOIEC 17065:2012) for Myanmar was hosted by Department of Research and Innovation, Ministry of Science and Technology from 6-7 March 2023 in Mingalar Thiri Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw and Minister Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw delivered the opening speech. In the opening speech, Minister said “congratulations to the participants who successfully completed in the training ISO/IEC 17065:2012, through these human resources, standards and quality assurance will be supported and also not only does it help in the implementation of a single market for trade in the ASEAN region but also micro, small and medium enterprises; factories and other businesses can compete in the market with full confidence in their products. And there will be effects that promote development; this workshop is an important process in order to carry out these processes. Then the second part of the program continues and Dr. Aung Zeya, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology; Dr. Aung Gyi, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation; U Win Pe, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Construction, and Dr. Phyu Phyu Win, Director General of Research and Innovation Department, Ministry of Science and Technology awarded Completion Certificates of ISO/IEC 17065:2012 training to the representatives of participants of Training. The purpose of this event is to establish a Model Certification Body in cooperation with certified trainers and inspectors and regulatory authorities; and quality certification bodies in the country and the recognition team has become stronger and stronger and there will be many benefits for the country’s socio-economic development. National Standards Council members; Standards work committee members; technical subcommittee members; Project Team Leader and ISO/IEC 17065:2012 course participants, a total of (80) people attended to the workshop and it was held from March 6th to the 7th.
