Launching Ceremony of Project on Strengthening National Quality Infrastructure and Implementation of National Certification Body for Certifying Products, Processes and Services and Stakeholders Engagement Forum on Standards and Quality for Trade Facilitation and Industry Development was held on 15 February 2024 at Mercure Hotel, Yangon. Ministry of Science and Technology, Union Minister H.E. Dr. Myo Thein Kyaw was attended and delivered the opening speech, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, Counselor Ms. Qiao Li told that the project will be very important for Belt and Road Initiative project, which is being implemented by the People’s Republic of China, for trade facilitation and support the development of the industrial sector between LMC member countries. Again, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Strategic Studies and Training Department, Deputy Director General told that Myanmar, one of the LMC countries, LMC projects will be cooperated by relevant government agencies under Mekong-Lancang special cooperation fund through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a focal point and Department of Research and Innovation(DRI), Director General discussed about the objectives and intended workplan of the project respectively. Accordingly, Chief minister and relevant ministers of Yangon Region Government, National Standards Council Members, Director Generals, Deputy Director Generals, Government and private associations and the officials from DRI were participated into this ceremony.
Simultaneously, Stakeholders Engagement Forum on Standards and Quality for Trade Facilitation and Industry Development was held on 15 February 2024 at this hotel, Department of Research and Innovation (DRI), Director General was delivered the speech about invited panel speakers from public-private organizations for trade facilitation and industrial development sector” through a panel discussion program to promote public awareness and strengthen public-private sector participations with the intended objectives. Again, the panel speakers were conducted about the panel discussion session including standardization and certification, accreditation and metrology and testing to the participants with feedback discussions. Members of the National Standards Council, A total of (120) participants including National Standards Council members, Standards working committee members, Rectors, Deputy Directors Generals, representatives from government agencies, private associations and the officials from the Department of Research and Innovation attended into this forum.
