On 12 June 2018 DRI in cooperation with the German Metrology Institute PTB celebrated the World Accreditation Day2018 in Myanmar. The theme for the World Accreditation Day 2018 focused on how accreditation delivers a safer world. This essentially includes safety in all aspects of daily lives, such as safe workplaces, safe products, safe transport and safe food. About 100 participants attended this half-day event in Hotel Melia, Yangon. The participants represented the Ministry of Education, non-government organizations, members of the National Standards Council, Consumers Association, industrial zones, testing laboratories, inspection and certification bodies, members from laboratory networks, UMFCCI and members from the National Export Strategy. In the afternoon of the same day, the Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) organized a stakeholder meeting to report on its cooperation agreement with the Myanmar National Accreditation Body (MNAB), advertise for the services SAC is offering in Myanmar (alone or jointly with MNAB) and hand-over a first accreditation certificate for the laboratories in the Asia Royal Hospital in Yangon.
