Director General of DRI Mr. Win Khaing Moe and Mr Daniel Swift of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) officially dedicated the Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Enquiry Point.
As a Member of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Myanmar seeks to comply with the Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT Agreement) which is designed to ensure that technical regulations, standards, testing and certification procedures do not create unnecessary obstacles to trade.Each WTO/ASEAN Member is required operate an Enquiry Point that can answer all reasonable inquiries from other WTO/ASEAN Member countries as well as from interested domestic parties.
The Myanmar TBT Enquiry Point and Information Center has been established within the Myanmar Standards and Quality Department to coordinate with central and local government agencies and other relevant organizations. The EP will provide information and documents and assistance in answering domestic and foreign enquires concerning standards, technical regulations, and testing.
