The third China-ASEAN Standardization Cooperation Forum was held on October 12 in 2023 in Liuzhou city, the People’s Republic of China. The People’s Republic of China, The ASEAN Secretariat and representatives from ASEAN countries including Myanmar attended to the Forum. In the forum, the speakers talk about : the development of standards to improve the quality and competitiveness of products, goods and services is for the promotion of national standards and technical regulations; prioritize building national standards in key strategic areas such as organic farming, smart urban areas; smart manufacturing; high-tech agriculture; renewable energy; information security; climate change response; water resource management; waste materials for supporting national green development, Green Forest Development Vehicle Standards and regulations; the construction of China’s energy-saving and new energy vehicle system, in relation to the protection of cultural heritage, etc. And then Bilateral Meeting between SAC and Department of Research and Innovation (DRI), Myanmar was held in the evening , during the meeting, Director General of China SAC discussed about cultural heritage protection and young professional activities in the Asia-Pacific region as the protection of cultural heritage is important for China and Myanmar. SAC will invite Myanmar young expert to continue to participate in the activities of jointly improve the ability and level of young experts in the Asia-Pacific region to participate in the international standardization work and jointly contribute wisdom and strength to the development of international standardization. After that Director General of Department of Research and Innovation(DRI) discussed about Mekong- Lancang Project on Strengthening National Quality Infrastructure and Implementation of National Certification Body for certifying products, process and services, follow up action of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Standardization Administration of the People’s Republic of China (SAC) and the Department of Research and Innovation (DRI) of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Joint Initiative on Strengthening Standards Cooperation and Building the Belt and Road. Then, SAC will ask the issue of being able to attend courses at the Institute of China and Information will be provided to Myanmar.
