Third “Workshop on Conformity Assessment-Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services (ISO/IEC 17065:2012) for Myanmar”

Third “Workshop on Conformity Assessment-Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services (ISO/IEC 17065:2012) for Myanmar” was held on 15-16 May, 2023 at Mercure Hotel, Yangon. In the workshop, Ministry of Science and Technology, Deputy Minister, Dr. Aung Zayya was delivered the opening speech and Dr. Phyu Phyu Win, Director General, Department of Research and Innovation(DRI) was explained about AHKFTA ECOTECH Work Programme: Project Overview, ASEAN EEE MRA and AHEEERR Need for Accreditation Bodies was shared by Project Team and Expert Mr. Ong Yeok Siew @ Micheal Ong, AHKFTA  ECOTECH Work Programme Outputs was discussed by Director, Standards Development Division(SDD), expanding scope of accreditation to meet ISO/IEC 17065: 2012 in Myanmar was shared by Director, Accreditation Body, DRI, Setting up to meet ISO/IEC 17065:2012 was discussed by Director, NSQD, Electrical Inspection Department and CB, Myanmar Building Code and PEs, CBs in market access and Consumer Production on  CBs  Myanmar were also shared by Myanmar Industries Association and relevant speakers from government sectors respectively etc. Also, groups discussions was held with nearly 70 participants such as rectors from Technological Universities, government officials from DRI, technical sub-committee members, relevant associations and business enterprise about consumer protection, regulatory requirements and market access to establish a new certification body in Myanmar.
